A ‘Deep South’ Network

New Orleans is the first stop on a road through Tennessee, Arkansas and Alabama, that connects the Deep South states with a network of local, independent newsrooms that center accountability and a community-first perspective.

Our Newsrooms

Mississippi Today is a nonprofit newsroom focused on unbiased, transparent journalism.

Founded in 2016 as a statehouse watchdog, our roots in Capitol coverage have grown to encompass a myriad of beats beyond politics and policy, including: education, public health, justice, the environment, equity, and sports.

Mississippi Today is now one of the largest newsrooms in the state, proving that free, nonpartisan news is the antidote to apathy and an essential key to government accountability.
