Deep South Today, the nonprofit network of local newsrooms that includes Mississippi Today and Verite News, today announced the appointment of Quo Vadis Sylve Hollins as Director of Public Programs.

Quo Vadis Sylve Hollins

“Deep South Today will dramatically enhance its community outreach and audience engagement through increased events and programming, and we are fortunate to have Quo leading those efforts,” said Warwick Sabin, President and CEO of Deep South Today.  “She understands both the art and science of convening people in various ways and for different purposes.  As we bring groups together to hear their perspectives, educate on key topics, debate important issues, and celebrate our culture and achievements, Quo has the experience and expertise to design and curate those experiences.”

An accomplished leader in public programming, strategic storytelling, and community engagement, Hollins has nearly three decades of experience shaping narratives that inspire action and amplify impact.  She spent over 28 years at The Times-Picayune and NOLA.com working in journalism and community engagement, including 13 years leading the newspaper’s community coverage and special initiatives.

During her time as an editor at The Times-Picayune and NOLA.com, Hollins was at the forefront of journalism and storytelling, curating content that resonated with diverse audiences and shined a light on underrepresented perspectives. She spearheaded the launch of The Roux NOLA, the first small business minority newsletter on NOLA.com, creating a vital platform to amplify the voices and stories often overlooked, reflecting her commitment to equity and representation.

Hollins later served as Director of Marketing and Communications at KIPP New Orleans Schools, where she directed campaigns that celebrated student achievement, strengthened family and community ties, and showcased the network’s 20-year legacy of educational excellence and equity. She led a comprehensive website redesign, transforming it into a user-centered platform that elevated the organization’s mission and impact.

Beyond journalism and education, Hollins has directed signature events including the Loving Cup, Top Workplaces, and Todd Price’s Taste Club. She also serves as Program Director of The Times-Picayune Doll and Toy Fund, a 129-year-old philanthropic tradition that provides thousands of children in underserved communities with moments of joy and hope each year.

A native of Montz, Hollins brings a deep love for the region and a commitment to preserving its stories while championing its future. At Deep South Today, she combines her passion for storytelling with her expertise in program development, fostering meaningful conversations that ensure the voices of the Deep South resonate for generations to come.
